Duration : 5 & half Years, Level : Graduation (UG), Type: Degree, 

Eligibility: 10+2, Average Salary: INR 8 LPA - 18 LPA*, 

Course Fee: 10000-20000 INR per Annum.  



B.V.Sc. & A.H. or Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry is an undergraduate Veterinary Science professional course. Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry is the application of medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic principles to various types of animals. In other words B.V.Sc. & A.H. is a course that deals with curing, treating as well as studying the various diseases occurring in animals and birds. The Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) degree course covers the study of subjects like Veterinary Anatomy & Histology, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Parasitology etc. The degree course is awarded after successfully completing a 5½ years program of study.

B.V.Sc. & A.H. Eligibility :


Aspiring students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with a minimum of 50% marks secured from a recognized board of the country.

Veterinary Council of India choose an All India Common Entrance Examination known as NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in the month of May each year for filling up of 15% (all India quota) and 85% (state quota) of the total no of seats of each Veterinary college of the States where the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 extends.

Before 2020 Some of the State Universities also conduct separate entrance examination to get admission to their B.V.Sc & A.H degree course. Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in entrance exam.

B.V.Sc. & A.H. Course Suitability :


They should have a genuine love and compassion for animals and be able to read the signs from the animal's behaviour and diagnose the ailment.

They must also be able to handle emergencies and work in physically disagreeable conditions, or in rural areas where working hours may be long and irregular, and working conditions uncomfortable.

They should have the ability to put the animals at ease, to do teamwork, have powers of observation, adaptability, and indifference to the conditions of work.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) degree serves as a basis for further higher studies in this field such as M.V.Sc., Ph.D. and M.Phil. degree in Veterinary Science, the successful completion of which makes one eligible for the post of a lecturer in any university or college.

After completing B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree, one can apply for Master’s and Doctoral degrees as there are many specializations in Veterinary Science.
