Japanese Encephalitis - Zoonotic Disease

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is the most important cause of viral encephalitis in Asia. The virus exists in a transmission cycle between mosquitoes, pigs or water birds. Humans get infected when bitten by an infected mosquito. The first case of Japanese encephalitis was documented in 1871 in Japan.
